Amazing Blonde Brownies
My amazing blonde brownies recipe came from one of my neighbor ladies when I lived in Utah. I have tried many other blonde brownie recipes over the years, but this is still my very favorite. The texture of these brownies is to die for and they are full of chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. These brownies are made with plenty of brown sugar and vanilla which gives them their delicious flavor. Blonde brownies remind me of a chocolate chip cookie in brownie form. They are thick and chewy in texture. You only need one bowl to mix up a batch of these brownies, making clean up a breeze. These are great for an after school snack, dessert, potluck or any special occasion.
Ingredients for Amazing Blonde Brownies:
- Shortening is used in this recipe because it creates a softer and more tender brownie. Shortening makes the brownie a little taller than butter. Butter may be substituted but be aware you may get a little different texture. Butter makes a crispier and flakier product. Butter does have that creamy butter flavor. Personally I prefer shortening but feel free to use either one.
- Light brown sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- All purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
- Chopped walnuts
How to make my Amazing Blonde Brownies:
- Cream shortening and brown sugar together in a large bowl.
- Add eggs and vanilla and mix together until creamy.
- Add flour, salt and baking powder to mixture and mix until combined. Don’t overmix as it makes the brownies more dense. Batter will be quite thick as shown below.
- Add chocolate chips and walnuts and fold into batter until mixed in.
- Press batter into a 9″ x 13″ pan and bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Take care not to overbake them as they continue to bake after they are removed from oven.
- Cool the brownies and cut into squares. Enjoy!!
Storage of blonde brownies:
Completely cool the brownies before cutting them into squares. Store them in a container with a tight-fitting lid or in a plastic storage bag for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to three months to enjoy at a later time. Just remove them from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature.
