Why use an air fryer?

  • Making baked potatoes in the air fryer is faster than using an oven and gives you a crispier texture.  Hot air circulates around the potato, cooking it evenly without drying it out.  Compared to baking them in an oven, this method saves time and energy and always delivers delicious results.

  • Cook potatoes at 390-400 degrees for 35-40 minutes for medium potatoes, flipping them halfway through.
  • Potatoes are done when the skin is crispy and a fork slides easily into the center.
  • Serve plain or with your favorite toppings:  Butter, sour cream, broccoli, chili, grated cheese, chopped bacon, etc.  I like half broccoli and half turkey chili sprinkled with cheese as pictured in this blog.

Notes:

  • Russet potatoes work best for baking.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket or rack.
  • Larger potatoes may need extra cooking time.
  • Season potatoes immediately after cooking for extra flavor.
