Beef & Everything Sandwich
A beef and everything sandwich has an amazing combination of ground beef and veggies cooked together with ooey, gooey mozzarella cheese on a fresh deli sandwich roll. The result is a really great Italian beef sandwich. The original recipe came from an old cookbook from many years ago and it is still a family favorite of ours. An easy and quick way to make an Italian beef sandwich which takes less than 30 minutes. A real hit for those weekend nights when you are too busy to spend a lot of time in the kitchen but want something that tastes soooo good.
What’s in a Beef & Everything Sandwich?
- Ground beef (80/20 ground beef is best)
- Chopped onion
- Chopped green pepper
- Chopped Roma tomato
- Sliced or chopped mushrooms
- Canned diced green chilis
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Garlic salt, salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
- Deli style sandwich rolls
How to make Beef & Everything Sandwich:
- Brown the ground beef in a large frying pan until slightly browned.
- Add onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. Stir in garlic salt, salt, and fresh ground pepper to taste. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Drain any excess grease from the pan.
- Add the can of diced green chilis, tomatoes and the mozzarella cheese and cook until the cheese is melted.
- Serve on a Deli style sandwich roll.
It really is that easy and as you can see it makes a juicy and gooey sandwich in about 20 minutes including preparation and cooking time.
Optional Variations:
- Giardiniera is often added to Italian sandwiches. It is a bottled mix of pickled and spicy Italian vegetables (found by the bottled peppers/pickles in the grocery store).
- Red or yellow bell peppers could be added for more color.
- If you like more Italian spices you could add a little basil, oregano or thyme and also dry red pepper flakes.
- A mild cheddar cheese could be mixed in with the mozzarella as well.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 is best)
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1 cup white mushrooms, sliced or chopped
- 1 Roma tomato, chopped
- 1 can diced green chilis
- 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 4 Deli style sandwich rolls
Instructions
- Chop onion, green pepper, and tomato. Slice or chop mushrooms.
- In large frying pan cook the ground beef until slightly browned.
- Add onion, green pepper, mushrooms, garlic salt, salt (to taste) and freshly ground black pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender and ground beef is browned.
- Add the can of diced green chilis, tomato and mozzarella cheese and cook until cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately on a deli style sandwich roll.
