Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl cream the shortening or butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugars for about 1-2 minutes or until mixture is creamy,
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and cream together.
Whisk the dry ingredients together in a medium size bowl and then add to the creamed mixture. Stir just until the dry ingredients are mixed in.
Pour bag of chocolate chips into the batter and fold into the cookie dough. No need to chill the dough for this recipe.
Using a medium-sized cookie scoop place scoops of dough onto prepared cookie sheet. Use ungreased cookie sheet or a baking mat.
Bake the cookies in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Remove cookies from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before removing the cookies to the rack. This gives them a chance to cool and firm up a little so they don't fall apart. Finish cooling cookies on the rack.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies. Serving size is one cookie.
